These three ceramic vases, which make up the “Mawae” series, evoke the cracks in the earth that often form as a result of various geological changes.
These cracks, though they may appear to be signs of destruction and devastation, are in fact the setting for a surprising metamorphosis. Just as flowers bravely sprout through the fissures in the earth, facing the most challenging conditions, the design of the Mawae vases reminds us that even in the darkest moments, there is hope and rebirth.
This is a collection of handcrafted ceramic vases featuring contemporary designs. It consists of 3 models:
“Mawae” means “crack” in Hawaiian, which is why we chose to incorporate a stripe into the design of these vases to symbolize this fissure—a representation of scarcity opening up to life.
This collection of vases blends two core concepts that define the bas brand: simple, delicate lines with a rougher, more rugged yet controlled aesthetic.
The Mawae vase speaks of the wounded earth, where a crack seems to herald the end.
Its form captures the imprint of transformation—the exact moment when destruction becomes a new beginning.
From its cracks emerges a flower—delicate yet resilient—a symbol of life that refuses to stop blooming.
Nothing in Mawae is accidental: every line speaks of balance, every break serves a purpose.
It is a constant dialogue between the fragile and the eternal, between the broken and the beautiful.
The flower does not hide the wound; it inhabits it and gives it new meaning.
The Mawae vases reveal the balance and connection between destruction and creation, and express how life always finds a way to prevail.
Art, decoration, and meaning come together to fill the spaces and corners of the home with a profound and conscious beauty, transforming each vase into an object that is not only contemplated, but also felt and interpreted.
Mawae doesn’t just decorate; it tells a story.
A story where life always finds its way.
The Mawae vase becomes a refuge for rebirth.
An object that reminds us that harmony can emerge even from chaos.
